GGM Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha on the 23rd of February 2022, continued with her programme to meet Traditional Authorities aimed at strengthening working ties with the institutions. Cllr Zitha met with Hlaneki Traditional Authority, Shiviti Traditional Authority and Homu Traditional Authority. The programme will continue rolling to Ngove Makhuva, Maswanganyi and Siyandhani Traditional Authorities. She was accompanied by GGM Speaker Cllr Mboweni Agrey Ernest.

MAYOR CONTINUES WITH HER VISITS TO TRADITIONAL LEADERSHIP. Accompanied by, amongst others, Executive Committee Members namely Cllr Baloyi Cedric, Cllr Mabunda Thamsanqa, Chairs of Chairs Cllr Morris Shiviti, Municipal Manager Mr Mkhacani Maxwell Chauke, Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha met with Nkuri Traditional Authority today, at Nkuri Traditional office as part of her programme to strengthen working ties with the various Traditional leaders.

GGM Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha accompanied by EXCO member and Ward 25 Councillor, Cllr Ndaba Nkhesani Harmony Pretty and the Municipal Manager Mr Mkhacani Maxwell Chauke, met with Dzumeri Traditional Authority to strengthen working ties between the two institutions as well as to officially introduce the Mayor to the Traditional Authority. The meeting was held at Dzumeri traditional office at Dzumeri village.

GGM Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha on the 09th of February 2022, paid a courtesy visit to Msengi, Ndengeza and Majozi Traditional leadership as part of a drive to meet all traditional leadership within Greater Giyani Municipality. The exercise is meant to introduce her to the various traditional councils with their subjects residing within Greater Giyani Municipality's jurisdiction. Outlining the purpose of this meetings, Cllr Zitha told traditional leaders that this exercise is aimed at improving the working relationship between the two parties. "Also important is that we both have to know each other, hence my coming here", she said. Mayor then remarked that by these meetings she wants to avoid cases where the municipal leadership only meet with the traditional leaders when there are problems.

GGM Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha on the 08th of February 2022, visited some of the project sites. According to the Mayor, this exercise is meant to assist in terms of strengthening both administration and political oversight. "This type of exercise will definitely help us identify challenges and make interventions timeously", Cllr Zitha said. Amongst other projects visited were a tar road project site at Homu14A, Homu14B sport centre and the Landfill site at Dzingidzingi village. Overall, the Mayor expressed her satisfaction in relation to what she saw, adding that the municipality is on the right track. She was accompanied by the infrastructure head Cllr Thamsanqa Mabunda, Community services head Cllr Constance Manganyi, Exco Member in the office of the Mayor Cllr Reginah Sekgobela and the Municipal Manager Mr Mkhacani Maxwell Chauke amongst others.

GGM MAYOR GRACES ANNUAL ZAMA ZAMA SOCCER TOURNAMENT FINALS The Greater Giyani Municipality Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha along with Cllr Christinah Zitha, head of sports, Arts and culture portfolio as well as the portfolio chairperson Cllr Ngobeni Xihlamariso graced the annual Zama Zama soccer tournament finals held at 14B, today, 31 December 2021. The soccer tournament which is the brainchild of the internationally renowned soccer referee Mr Victor Hlungwani, has over the years grown from just being a tournament targeting a particular locality by drawing interests from teams as far as Gauteng. For her part, the mayor will fast track the completion of the much-awaited Homu 14B Sport center to ensure that this games and other initiatives take place in a decent facility. She was particularly impressed by the number of people the tournament attracted amongst other things.
