The development and reviewal of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) is a very
involving and exciting process. Involving in the sense that it entails a lot of
thinking and creativity regarding the planning on issues and priorities of the projects
that would better our lives. The process is as well exciting in the sense that it
involves all of us. The draft IDP document is publicized for 21 days in order for the
community members to forward their inputs, contributions and also give us a change for
public participation. Therefore no one has an excuse for non-involvement or inaction on
the developmental processes of our municipality.
These inputs have finally been consolidated and summarized into a user-friendly document spelling out who we are as a municipality. Whereas we all agree on the huge backlog facing us, we are also agreeing on the need for space and time that need to be taken in addressing our backlog. Lack of maximum coordination and integration by government spheres in our programmes towards speeding service delivery is still a worrying observation, But however, there is some considerable improvement in this regard as opposed to the initial years when the IDP's were introduced in our government systems. There is a lot still that need to be done in order for us to achieve our goals and objectives. The establishment phase of our municipality is almost completed despite the fact that we operate on little financial resources. Our achievements do not correlate with the resources we have and that can be attributed to the proper prioritization on issues of service delivery. Plans and Strategies are being developed which will lead to a credible IDP in future so that there is guidance on how we shall deal with the challenges ahead of us. The process is about the full establishment of our municipality is well on , it is slowly but surely going to be completed. Thanks to all those who actively participated in this process directly and indirectly for they brought us where we are today. Your continued participation and support is forever appreciated. |
